New releases - November 2025

Hello again,

I’ve been painting most days in the studio and I feel very lucky.  Recently I moved into my eldest son’s bedroom after he moved out and really enjoying the light and being able to have my paintings around me. (Sorry Adam, you can never have that room back).

I have some paintings coming up in exhibitions at Brisbane’s Aspire Gallery and Melbourne’s Brunswick St Gallery in Fitzroy for Summer exhibitions and continue to bring lots of new works down to Town and Country Gallery in Yarragon, Victoria.  Artbid online auctions have sold three of my paintings last month and I have two more coming up in their early December auction at artbid.com.au

It’s a learning curve for me to promote and seek out new opportunities but it is all about getting out there and painting what I enjoy and being consistent. I have learnt a lot about painting this year and feel I’d like to do some more abstract larger works.  I don't think I could paint the same way forever as we all change over time, things influence you and being creative, you have that urge to try new things and still stay true to yourself.

Someone recently told me they didn't realise I was painting my paintings myself and I was a bit surprised. They didn't really explain what they meant and it was hard to know if it was a complement or a bit insulting. ;)  I’ve always drawn and that has helped me a lot in my art.  I enjoy making things look like they really are but find myself being drawn to a representation, the subject being a bit looser and letting go just a bit. I taught art to children for a while there and as kids, most of us get the praise when we make something look like it is in reality.  That conditioning is hard to change, but every now and again I find myself letting that go a bit more. Letting go of the outcome is a bit terrifying sometimes but I’m willing to dip my toe in every now and again.

Please enjoy some of my works this month and thanks for reading. x Kathryn
