Before we had mobile phones we had land lines and this old bakelite phone would have had many calls over its lifetime. This painting depicts a sunlit afternoon when we had to wait at home if we were expecting a call. We were not as accessible as we are now and this phone’s era along with the vase of camelias reflects this time. Waiting for the Call is painted in oil on museum quality Gesso board.
