Recently we drove to Balnarring Beach in Victoria. I took a photo of this scene and painted it later that week. I loved the solid rocks and the low winter sun made shadows of them on the sand. There was hardly anyone walking with us and you could just make out a few houses amongst the trees across the water. I love how shadows are rarely colourless or just grey and I wanted to capture the beautiful blues and purples. Art really does help you to observe the elements of life we often skip over.
